With three weeks now until the SPL season commences, the wheeling and dealing still has over a month to go but already some of our clubs are involved in competitive action. Here is a mini-preview for the upcoming season:Aberdeen: Seeing Aberdeen fail is something I take great enjoyment Courtney Lee Jersey from. Last season, the Dons finished in 9th position after what was a relatively horrific season for new manager Mark McGhee. Although, he didnt make it easy for himself by saying he wanted the Celtic job in his first interview as Aberdeen bo s. They have added Josh Magennis, Rory McArdle and Mark Howard to their squad so far but have former Aston Villa midfielder Lee Hendrie on trial at the moment. Much will be expected from some of Aberdeens talented youngsters, Fraser Fyive, Peter Pawlett and Michael Paton.Celtic: After finishing 6 points behind the Champs, Celtic were under alot of pre sure to strengthen a pretty average squad of players. Neil Lennon has added Charlie Mulgrew from Aberdeen, South Korean defender Cha Du-Ri, former Cardiff midfielder Joe Ledley, Sunderlands Daryl Murphy and Mexican world cup star Efrain Juarez. However, Robbie Keane will head back to Spurs without any medals after securing Celtic 2nd spot and will probably need to add more players to replace his goals. Artur Boruc left for Fiorentina also.Dundee United: Peter Houston did an excellent job in replacing Craig Levein and won the Scottish Cup back in May. They will be looking to build on a very succe sful season and have, so far, managed to hold on to Craig Conway and David Goodwillie, who were crucial to their succe ses last season. Despite losing Andy Webster, United still Willie Cauley-Stein Jersey have a strong squad with good depth in a number of areas. Goalkeeper Filip Mentel joins from Man City and talented full-back Barry Douglas joins from Queens Park. With the Old Firm looking weak, Dundee United will fancy their chances if they can keep their better players.Hamilton: Billy Reids Accies finished in 7th place last season after a strong end to the season. In recent days, James McArthur confirmed his move to Wigan and they have also lost Antoine-Curier who returned to Dundee. The Accies have added Jim McAlister, Gavin Skelton, Andy Graham and Jack Ro s to their squad. I think the Accies will do well again this year but will need to add a few established players to replace the lo s of McArthur.Hearts: The Jambos just edged into the top six last season and will be looking to do much better next season. Jim Jefferies has added Darren Barr from Falkirk and Kilmarnocks striker Kevin Kyle.Hibernian: After a stunning start to last season, Hibs fell apart in the last half of the season and after looking like chasing the Old Firm they were struggling to finish in the top 4. Edwin De Graaf, David Stephens and Michael Hart have joined the Hibs squad for pre-season in Holland, but the future of Sol Bamba is uncertain. Hibs will already be in competitive action before the new season kick-off with a tie against Maribor in the Europa League. The Gers travel to the new-look Easter Road for the second game of the season.Inverne s: Newly-promoted Inverne s will come into the SPL facing a tight relegation battle but Caley have added some decent players to their squad. Kevin McCann joins from Hibs on loan, Chris Innes joins on a 1-year-deal, Jonny Tuffey joins from Partick, Max Johnson joins from Newcastle and former Rangers trialist Gil Blumanshtein arrives from Israel. The First Divsion champions usually make the Caledonian Stadium a difficult place to come and win, especially against the Old Firm.Kilmarnock: In all honesty, I cant see past Kilmarnock being relegated. The Ayrshire club just stayed in the SPL by the skin of their teeth and with 9m worth of debt, the club will struggle to add to their already poor squad. Kevin Kyle left for Hearts which will be a ma sive blow and I expect Craig Bryson to leave in the coming weeks.Motherwell: The Steelman have already qualified for the next round of the Europa League after seeing off Icelandic side Delon Wright Jersey Breidablik 2-0 on aggregate. Craig Browns side have lost John Ruddy, Lukas Jutkiewicz and Jim OBrien during the close-season but have added Darren Randolph, Lee Hollis and Angelos Charalambous.St Johnstone: The Saints had an excellent season under Derek McIne s and will be looking to build on their 8th place finish last season. Jamie Adams, Scott Dobie, Sam Parkin and Cleveland Taylor will join up at McDiarmid Park.St Mirren: After a fierce relegation battle, newly-appointed manager Danny Lennon has been quick to make ma sive changes to the St Mirren squad with 7 new players being added. David Van Zanten, Darren McGregor, Paul McQuade, Jure Travner, Craig Samson, Gareth Wardlaw and Marc McAusland are the new faces for the Buddies this year.
